Sanitize
Have client wash hands and scrub nails before you begin a full set
of Silked Glass, or if the client is back to have her Silked Glass
filled. Once seated at station, both client and technician should
use Galaxy's Rinseless Hand Sanitizing Gel, Station Safe.
Preparing Nail For
Application
-
Prep
Nail: First, using a clean orangewood stick, push back and
remove any cuticle or hidden skin from nail application area.
Be sure to use firm, but cautious, pressure as not to slip off nail
plate and injure tissue surrounding the nail plate. Then,
using a 180 grit file, lightly file cuticle area and nail plate
surface, to ensure all skin is removed from nail plate.
-
Dust: The proper tool to use is a nylon manicuring
brush, such as Galaxy's Animal Nylon Scrub Brush. These
brushes are sanitize-able and make a great retail item for adults
and children alike. All dust and
debris must be removed from
the nail plate. This tool has stiff bristles to remove dust completely
and can be sterilized.
-
Balance: One squirt of
Galaxy' Balance sanitizes the nail plate and surrounding tissue, as
well as balance the PH level of the natural nail to create better
adhesion.
-
Size
Your Tips for Application: Be sure to size each finger
individually, as nail size can vary greatly from hand to hand.
If using the White Lightning Tips, be sure to have pre-filled your
smile line before application. If using Ultipmate Tips, be
sure you have thinned the well area before application.
Application of Tips
-
Using
White Lightning Tips: Using Galaxy's Resin Gel, apply a thin
line along the White Lightning "smile line" and apply tip
to the free-edge using a rocking motion. This will release any
bubbles and achieve a secure fit. Blend tip only if necessary.
-
Using
Ultipmate Tips: Using Galaxy's Resin Gel, apply a thin layer
inside the well area of the Ultipmate Tip and apply to free-edge
using a rocking motion. This will release any bubbles and
achieve a secure fit. Blend tip until flush with natural nail,
using no coarser than a 100 grit file. Be cautious not to
create heat on the clients nail bed.
Application of Product Over the Tip
-
Basing
the Nail: Using the Base & Build Gel, apply a thin but
liberal coat on the natural nail only. Be sure not to get Base
& Build Gel on the skin or the surrounding cuticle. Do
this on all 10 nails.
-
Smooth:
Using a very fine file, gently go over Base & Build
Gel to make sure application area is smooth. Be sure not to
file through Base & Build Gel to natural nail. If this
happens, re-apply gel and smooth out. Do this to all 10 nails.

Pre-cut
Fiberglass: Pre-cut fiberglass and silk to fit area of nail and
extension to be covered.
-
Fiberglass
Application: Using Galaxy's Deep Penetrating Resin Gel, apply a
thin coat over the entire nail and tip extension. Then apply
the fiberglass over entire nail and tip. Be sure not to touch
skin with fiberglass, as this can cause lifting. Using an
orangewood stick, smooth down edges and pull snug down over
extension. Repeat this step on all 10 nails.
-
Check
Resin: Quickly check that all 10 nails are completely saturated
with Deep Penetrating Resin. If you can still see fabric, add
a second thin layer of Deep Penetrating Resin. When the fabric
is no longer visible, move to "Activator" step below.
-
Activator:
Hit each nail with a short, fine mist of Hussle Activator.
Hold Hussle no closer than 5 inches from finger when spraying.
Always spray away from the direction of your client.
-
Shape:
Using a 180 grit file, shape the sides, free-edge and top
surface. Be sure to smooth cuticle area flush with natural
nail.
-
Silk
Application: Now apply silk to the entire surface of each nail
that has been prepared with fiberglass. Be sure to smooth down
edges with an orangewood stick and pull snug down over
extension. Complete this step on each nail.
-
Next,
apply a thin coat of Base & Build Gel to each nail. Once
Base and Build Gel has completely saturated silk, use Hussle
Activator to speed drying time. If silk is not completely
saturated, apply a second coat of gel before using Hussle.
-
Buff:
Buff all 10 nails using a Terminator File, being sure the surface is
smooth. Only if necessary, use a 180 grit Zebra Rocket
File around cuticle to smooth flush.
-
Massage:
Massage Galaxy's soothing Almond Oil into all 10 cuticles to
re-hydrate skin.
-
Scrub:
Have client to scrub excess oil off the nail surface.
-
Liquid Glass:
Apply 2 coats of Liquid Glass or polish. Liquid Glass is a plastic sealer. This is a UV protector and
only takes two coats. It dries in 120 seconds and looks as
shiny as freshly cleaned glass. Liquid Glass may not be used
as a base coat or a top coat.
-
Smudge
Me Not: Add a coat of Galaxy's Smudge Me Not top coat to finish
your client beautifully over Liquid Glass or polish. Smudge Me
Not is non-yellowing, dries in under 3
minutes and can be used over Liquid Glass for a flawless
finish and prevents the sticky finish caused by sunscreens, hair
products, perfumes and other elements.
Note: Saturation
of silk and fiberglass with resin or gel is complete when fabric becomes
transparent. If you can still see opaque areas in fabric, it has
not bee completely saturated.
